Three-piece solves swimwear puzzle

Swimwear in all styles and shapes has ignited the silver screen for decades. Bikini-clad Bond girl, Ursula Andress was breathtaking in the 1962 epic, ‘Dr No’ whilst Bo Derek reinvented the one-piece bather in the film, ’10′.And then there was Pamela Anderson who gave the fullpiece new meaning in her red lifeguard swimsuit?

But for those of us who score less than a perfect ten in our swimwear and wouldn’t dream of facing even an instamatic camera on a family holiday, an innovative three-piece design from a Perth swimwear company is just the answer.

Like many women, Julie Wiggins was unable to find a swimsuit that fitted properly. She was looking for something stylish that also gave her support, but there was no way she wanted to squeeze into skintight lycra.  Her answer ?  She came up with her own design of a three-piece swimsuit, made one up at home and gathered compliments whenever she wore it.  So, she started taking orders, gave up her teaching career to start a swimwear business and the rest is history.Viva Swimwear has grown into an iconic Australian brand with the three-piece swimsuit its signature item.

Comprising a swim bra, swim pants and a loose-fitting tank top that flatters curves, not accentuates them, the 3-piece is Viva Swimwear’s biggest seller. The design’s versatility allows women of all sizes and shapes, plus-size included, to wear it with confidence – and Julie isn’t aware of any other swimwear retailer in Australia offering anything similar.

“Most women hate shopping for swimwear,” she said.  “The bright lighting, limited space and lack of privacy puts many women off, and consequently they often make the wrong choices.  Being able to select swimwear online and then try it on in the comfort of one’s own home is a real bonus –even better when the item is properly cut, priced right and comes with a comprehensive returns policy. In fact, over 90% of people purchasing Viva swimwear online are happy with their items and keep them.”

A recent survey in which Julie canvassed over 4 000 of her customers revealed the three-piece to be an overwhelming favourite.Viva has introduced new details such as crossover straps and sash tops, but has kept the basic design as the central feature of the range.  “It gives women of all shapes and sizes a comfortable and flattering option for swimwear, with support in all the right places. We may not be the next Bond girl, but we can still star in our own show.
