Healthy Breast Tips

We go to a lot of trouble to keep ourselves as healthy as possible and to keep your breast beautiful and healthy you should do a monthly breast exam. Most women don’t do it, but in a new report, the American Cancer Society says one in nine American women girls will develop breast cancer in her life time. This may be a heavy increase over the prior statistics of one in ten.

A very scary fact is that there has been no progress in stopping breast cancer since 1971. Well documented it is noted that around 70 % of women who get breast cancer have NO family history of it. Up to eighty percent of ladies who get breast cancer have no risk factors at all.  Documented, external risk factors include radiation ( particularly at a tender age ), hormone replacement care ( the "Pill" and estrogen for post-menopausal girls ), and diet, particularly fat, animal fat is highly correlated to free radical damage by lipid peroxidation, which leads to tissue destruction and breakdown of the immune system, as do alcohol and refined sugars. As women go off to college and are engaged in more drinking at a younger age, this could be contributing to the higher rate of breast abnormalities found at earlier ages than ever before.

Breast cancer, usually, grows very slowly. It usually cannot be noted on a mammogram for seven to eight years, and a palpable lump would not be detected in a breast exam by a physician for eight to ten years. Since breast cancer’s growth is slow, the diagnosis is not often an emergency. Many women feel pressured to make a decision quickly, but they should explore as many professional opinions as possible before deciding on a course of therapy, that will affect them for the rest of their lives.

Another common breast "disease" is the so-called fibrocystic breast disease. This can cause what doctors call dense breast tissue. For the most part it does not signify that a woman will get breast cancer, but she should be followed closely.

Breast health is very important, and many benign breast related problems such as cystic lumps, swelling, tenderness, inflammation, infection, nipple discharge, should be followed by a doctor, but many of these symptoms can be  alleviated or controlled by diet and medication.
