Understanding the Changes

Chances are that once you have had your baby you will probably still look and maybe even feel you re still carrying your baby. This is totally normal; it is expected that your body will require time to recover. You can expect your stomach to naturally keep this shape for a few months after pregnancy. It will more than likely take you about four weeks for your uterus to return to previous size. If you are susceptible to retaining liquids you body will need time to get rid of them. The good news is your stomach will be busy getting your back to its pre-pregnancy shape; however in most cases it takes time to lose your pregnancy weight so be patient.

Exercise is your friend

You may have even realized that your belly was not the only part affected perhaps your hips and thighs may also be a bit bigger. Now for some great news, some gentle exercising and a ton of patience will have your belly back to normal before you realize it. Before you know it, you will be back where you started. The most important thing you should consider is getting an OK from your doctor prior to starting an exercise routine after you have allowed your body 4-8 weeks to recover. I cannot overemphasize the importance of increasing the number of exercises or their intensity gradually. Pushing yourself at the beginning could cause problems especially if you has complications or a C-section so take it easy. It is best to break up your routines into less lengthy sessions and spread them out. If your body had adapted to exercising it will be ok to increase the intensity or number of exercises moderately to be able to lose pregnancy weight faster.

Don’t start a difficult exercise routine as you will probably not have much time to stick to it. Of course your child should come first and things can get pretty crazy so just do the best you can under your circumstance. For the sake of safety try not to exercise by yourself initially just in case there are unforeseen problems. Need a Weight Loss Plan

Calories are important

You will really need to watch your calories especially if you made the decision to breastfeed you new baby. Your body will burn roughly 500 additional calories during breastfeeding. A reduction in the number of calories you consume is not recommended as it is likely to have a negative impact on your child. Your newborn will require all the nutrients it can get from your breastfeeding. Just remember you are likely to impact your supply of milk when you decrease your daily calories. You could possibly lose weight too fast leading to a possibly toxic milk supply for your newborn. Please take your time if you are attempting to lose pregnancy weight remember safety comes first.
